First African Americans

Dr. Maya Angelou broke new ground artistically, educationally and socially with her drama “Georgia, Georgia” in 1971.

Because of this piece, Dr. Maya Angelou became the first African-American woman to have her screenplay produced.

My favorite quote from Dr. Maya Angelou (RIParadise) is

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”
