We started shortly after 2 1/2. She’d let us know when she had to go and when she needed to be changed. We tried putting her on the potty and she did successfully a few times more so by accident. She cried when we put her on. She said she was “scared to go potty.” We never pushed it.
Just before she turned 3, we went to see Santa. He told her she was ready to be a big girl and he wanted her to learn to use the potty. A few days later, she asked to wear big girl panties and has been ever since with only a couple accidents.
I agree with @jennatess, let him decide when he’s ready. It’s not worth the frustration if he truly isn’t ready.
Indeed, ty so much! Pretty much everyone is saying that it kinda happened when they were ready, so ill try for fun at & first and let him slowly get into it🤗
We’ve tried on and off since she was like 1 1/2 but she wasn’t ready. We started a few days ago and now she’s getting close to fully potty trained.
15-16 months and he was fully trained by 18 months
She got a potty when she turned 1 so we started trying but not to serious but she was potty trained before she turned two
We got him a potty when he turned 2. He used it a few times but it felt forced. So we waited until he showed enough interest which was when he was 2.5.
Girl, I started trying at 1 and a half but she didn’t even show any interest until 3.5.
We JUST finally got it down.
@jennatess, he lets me know when his diaper needs to be changed so I just started thinking about it
@superchilledmom, good start for sure!
Letting him pick out “big boy undies” at the store may also help him get into the mood.
For us, nothing worked (even though she’d tell us when she needed a new diaper.) until after we took her to Disneyland. The whole time we were there, we kept saying how all the princess’ wore big girl underwear, and how Mickey & Minnie (her faves) would be so proud if she used the potty like a big girl.
About two days after getting home from our trip, she woke up one day and was like “Mommy! I wanna wear big girl underwears!”.
And boom. That was it. She finally showed interest. Since then she’s only had 3 pee accidents and one poop accident. She’s slept through the night also and woke up dry every single night.
It was finally just her wanting to be a big girl that worked for us.
@jennatess, lmaaooo thats so cute tho! Kids are so silly! 🤣🤣🤣 he thinks everything is “caca” even pee, but at least he lets me know lmao
1 1/2 but everyone is different though on when they are ready
I just finished training, my baby is 20 months and it took her 8 days
