Continuing with my February post of “What Would The World Be Like Without Black People”....I am including “First African Americans” because without them, many opportunities would not be afforded to us.

Ruby Bridges (born September 8, 1954) was six when she became the first African-American child to integrate a white Southern elementary school on November 14, 1960, escorted to class by her mother and U.S. marshals due to violent mobs. Bridges' bravery paved the way for continued Civil Rights action, and she's shared her story with future generations in educational forums.

I just can't even imagine having to walk my sweet 6 year old past an angry mob to get into school. It's so unreal. Thank you for posting.

He ran to his room to put on his clothes. His mother took one look at him and said, "Son, those clothes are all wrinkled. I must iron them."
