I have SEVERE anxiety and can’t handle being home alone. My SO left over an hour ago to “help” his fire department with some flood stuff going on. I asked if he was going to be a while, he said probably. I told him i was going to see if my friend could come pick me up and now he’s pissed because I can’t stay here by myself. I’m trying so hard to but knowing that it’s going to be hours before anyone is here with me, I honestly feel like I can’t breathe. I really just wish he would understand that I do t enjoy having to leave my own home and crap because I’m “too scared to be an adult” as he says 🙄 I literally can’t control it yet. I’m trying 😔

@adunton84, my doctor has me on some anxiety meds and for the most part they help really good. This just seems to be my biggest issue 😩 and my SO technically doesn’t work for it cause it’s a volunteer department but he’s still going to be out a while. I’m really glad that you’re doing better! I wouldn’t wish this stuff on my worst enemy

Ohh ok! Well I’m happy you’re on something that is helping with you’re anxiety. Have you tried therapy? I did both when I was going through my rough time.

@adunton84, I tried it a while back but not recently. I may have to though

I had crippling agoraphobia for a year, along with severe anxiety and panic attacks. It was horrible, I couldn’t be home alone either and I was 20! But I promise you it’ll get better with medication and counseling. Now my panic attacks are gone and I love being alone 😂 hang in there sweetie. If you need an ear message me anytime 💙

Ps: people who have never experienced the level of anxiety we’ve had don’t understand how irrational it is. You’re not choosing this, it’s debilitating you. Don’t let anyone tell you to snap out of it or that you’re not an adult- you’re an adult living with severe anxiety until it gets figured out, similar to someone with unmanaged diabetes, it takes the right dosage of the right meds and the right lifestyle along with medical monitoring. You can do it!!

It's not that people don't know it's irrational it's that they don't understand how severe and sincere the fear actually is.

I know this feeling all too well. Last summer when my daughter was 8 months old I was diagnosed with severe PPA and PPD. Scariest time of my life. I hit rock bottom. If I were you, I’d let my doctor know what’s going on so you can get some help and have your life back. My SO also works for the fire Dept and he won’t be home until tomorrow morning, he’s been at work since Friday morning. I have been alone and feel ok with it. Had this been months ago I couldn’t have been here alone even for a half hour. I feel for you because I know it’s awful. My SO didn’t get it at all either.

I used to deal with severe anxiety years ago. I feel bad for you because I know what you’re going through especially with a SO that doesn’t quite understand. A lot of ppl don’t understand. 😕

How long have you been experiencing this? What started it?

@caseyann19 How old were you when this started? Now? Did you have a traumatic event that caused it? Have you had counseling? I find that even if you don't get professional counseling, having someone to confide in, who will help you really walk yourself through the issue at hand helps get me past whatever I am going through.

@xryztalroze, I think around 15-16. It used to be more of a social anxiety kind of thing. My mom pulled me out of public school and enrolled me into online school and stuff like that. I’ve had counseling’s few times but I haven’t ever really been very comfortable with it so I prefer my mom. She’s basically my counselor. She’s helped me work through a lot of my anxiety issues the last few months

@caseyann19 So it has been awhile? Have you filled for social security? Do you work? I have had my share of anxieties but nothing so severe as not being able to be home alone. I don't like going out in public alone but have been able to work through that. And I can date back to exactly when, where, and why my issues began so as to work through. Hope you get the help for this that you need. It sounds like your mom has done all she can but that you need something more. Best of wishes to you!

My son has this also. We try to play clam music and if it don't work having all the lights on or shades open and tv on helps. Hang in there momma

@caseyann19 it will take time and I'm sure you will be okay. I was never used to being home alone with a newborn and a toddler till i married my husband. He is only home about 90 days a yr

@momof3cuties, oh dang! That’s a long time to be away from home!

It used to not really bother me when I was home alone but my anxiety was also a little more under control then. Hopefully I’ll work through it soon and it won’t bother me so bad 🤞🏻

I learned it’s ok not to be ok thanks to @leonardsquared, I’m going to try remembering that whenever I feel like I’m failing as a mom because I can’t do the things I used to do.....I’m just sick of feeling sick 😔

Am I wrong to be upset? Last night I was running a fever, weak, tired, sore, my left boob feels like it got used as a punching bag. I asked my husband to call out of work today to help me with the kid so I could get some rest. He went to work. I texted him this morning. Part of me thinks I mean. The other part of me thinks I was fine for saying that because he should've stayed home with us.

ekko I see both sides. However, if you both work and him taking off one day isn’t going
2sweetie I’ve never asked my husband to take a day off when I’m sick. I just deal with
boymama523 He gets the choice to call off if he’s overwhelmed or sick. You (all us mommas) don’t.
