Hey everyone. I have a question. Probably gonna be a long story. I got my 2 kid a month ago. Last week I had such a terrible pain in my chest which was also in my upper back, plus it was really hard to breath. I thought that it may be a heart problem. We call the ambulance to get to the hospital. Long story short, doctors telling me that I passed the stone ( gallbladder). Sonogram and MRI are clear, but liver test was really high. Highest were over 400. On the third day they start to come down. Now the doctor sending me to the surgeon, telling that I need to remove gallbladder. Is anyone here who had a problem with gallbladder after they gave birth? I really don’t want to remove it unless it really necessary. There is no stones, test are getting back to normal. Is it necessary to remove it right away? Is there a chances that the stones will never come back? I am lost.

@morganmommy79, how did your life change after? What kind of diet do you follow?

@morganmommy79, thanks. I think I still can keep my gallbladder and just check it every 3 to 6 months for now. How long ago did you remove it?

I had mine removed 17 years ago. My daughter was a month old when I had it removed.

I had gallbladder issues 3 months into my pregnancy so I went another 5 months with attacks, like the one you had. Mine started as sludge and eventually turned into stones. The dr induced 3 weeks early because my attacks started staying longer. They went from 30 minutes up to 12 hours long. If you are passing stones it’s best to get it removed as one could eventually stay lodged (I know someone who passed away from this) or it can cause gain green (I know someone else who had this) or it could rupture and spill bile through your stomach and could potentially be deadly. And I also know someone who had that happen but Dr’s caught it in time, however they couldn’t do laparoscopy they had to cut her the old way and use staples instead of stitches.

I do know someone who chose to live with their gallbladder because they lost so much weight from not being able to eat certain foods due to it causing an attack but the stones pretty much don’t go away, they pass or lodge. Sometimes drs can dissolve them but surgery is usually the answer.

I was so glad to get rid of mine. It was brought on by pregnancy but it’s also hereditary.

But once it’s removed you may have issues with everything going right through you after eating so be close to a bathroom until you get used to how it’s all going to work.

As far as removing it right away I would say as long as it’s not torn, rupturing, full of stones, sludge or causing multiple attacks you wouldn’t have to. But I’m not a Dr and maybe you could get a second opinion. Perhaps your dr is trying to avoid future gallstones and potential issues. 🙂

tutusandtouchdowns @sarasmilesatyou, I did stop completely because my supply stopped (before the surgery).
sarasmilesatyou @ishabroadway21, the doctor told me that I will have to pump & dump for a couple of
ishabroadway21 @sarasmilesatyou it just depends on the type of medicine they give you. Anesthesia is okay, even though
