How long is normal or reasonable for new dads to take off of work after the baby is born?

My husband saved a week of vacation for when the twins were born. I was in the hospital for a few days, so he had our older two. When my older two were born, he was off for just the days we were in the hospital.

My husband got 2 weeks paid paternity leave. My friend gave birth last September and her husband got 4 weeks paid paternity leave.

My SO was fairly lucky, his work gave him 2 unpaid weeks off and it was super helpful especially because I had an unplanned c section

Gosh I wish my husband would have had time off. They were calling him to come back into work while we were still at the hospital. So he was just allowed 2 days of unpaid time off. Then he was back on the road. I think dads deserve at least a month!

My fiancé only got 3 days off-unpaid- after our son was born. He’s in a much better job where he will get 6 weeks paid leave after our daughter is born. I would take all the time you could get honestly.

Depends on the state and job. There is no set amount unfortunately
