Hi ladies, good morning. I want opinions please. How long is it recommended to ONLY breastfeed for without any liquid like water, (looking to go back to work summer time) and what’s your opinion about expressing breastmilk from 2 weeks after birthing please?

If you only mean that you want to express once a day or something by the way, then it would obviously be different! But if your baby is latching on fine, it is recommended that you don’t introduce a bottle until they are six weeks as it may put them off the boob while they are so little (and lazy) lol x

Yeah 6 months like the ladies said 🙂 and then you could just offer some water each time they have some food. I expressed for the first five weeks for my first as he couldn’t latch on at first. Blimey it was hard work. It was literally express, wash and sterilising bottles, feed baby, repeat. All day! I couldn’t have gone on any longer than that. Luckily for me he managed to latch on with nipple shields from 5 weeks as it would have only got more time consuming the older he got, as would have to spend longer pumping as he would have been wanting more milk! Good luck 🙂 x

I think once you wean at 6 months. You satisfy their thirst/keep them hydrated with your breast milk x

It is not recommended to give a breastfed baby water until after 6 months. Even then you don't have to give it, they will be OK with just little feeds, often. I started giving Theo water at about 8 months because we had a really hot couple of weeks and he didn't want to come near me in the days because it was so warm X
