Everyone only produces colostrum for the first few days, it’s not just you! Your actual milk will come in 2-5 days after birth, depending on the demand of your baby. Since you’re not able to latch your baby you will need to pump every 2 hours around the clock. Yes your nipples are going to hurt. They would hurt from nursing anyway. It’s not an easy task but it’s gets waaay easier the longer you do it. Don’t give up!
@gecko_mom, @gordis13, hospital grade pump is a great idea. I was able to rent one for free. Check with your insurance!
Can take a bit for your milk to come in. You may also want to speak to the hospital about renting a hospital grade pump as that will probably be better than any pump you would purchase normally. I had several days of colostrum before my milk came in and took a bit before I was producing enough (he was only in the NICU a week and wasn’t premature). But I was angry when they were over feeding him formula and it almost ruined my breastfeeding him. -.- It is going to be super hard though. You have to pump like every 3h, you can’t sleep through the night as much as you really may want to. I pumped every 3h for 7w and was so close to throwing in the towel! Thankfully I was finally able to get him to latch and breastfeed but oh my gosh.. so hard!
My baby is a 31 week premature so right now they feed him formula but threw a tube inside his mouth. Hopefully i am able to breastfeed. I will take your advice and pump more often. It is hard I wanna give up already but this time I won’t 🤞🏼
Good luck I hope it works out for you! Drink tons of water, eating nuts helped me too. Pump a lottttttt and your milk will most likely come in and stay regular.
Thank you and yes that’s all I’ve been doing drinking water and pumping
Yes, it's possible. I never produced a single drop of milk either time.
They have stuff to help you produce more like tea and such, maybe try that when babies born it might help ❤️
Yes I’ve seen the cookies and teas I’m gonna try it out. My baby was already born he’s a premature
@gordis13, oh I didn’t know that!! I hope he’s okay!!
I was never able to bf never produced enough it’s something I always wanted to do tho!
Whit my fist baby I didn’t bf for the same reason and I wanted to do it with him and I’m trying to do it with my new born but it looks like I don’t produce enough
Yes. Some women don't get milk, enough milk or their milk in time.
@mychemicalshaymance, yes I’m pumping here at the hospital my nipples hurt lol. Yes I have a preemie at 34 weeks gestational age there gonna let me latch him on hopefully by then I have some milk 😩🤞🏼
@gordis13 awwwh, well even if you can't at least you know you put all your effort into it! Good luck on your bf journey 🖤
@mychemicalshaymance, yes thank you 💙
Well i had my oldest at 33 weeks. He never latch on. So i pumped breast milk for him. But he had formula also. But when he came home. He just did formula.
