The dr said my baby is tongue tied. Anyone else’s baby had this? Were they effected by it in the long run ??

If that’s what I think it is there’s a very simple procedure where they sever the tie. It’s very effective and typically negative effects are minimal or none.

Yeah I don’t know the full story but my cousins mom didn’t do the correction soon enough for whatever reason and he had a speech impediment he couldn’t get past.

oh. 👀 well don’t let my family gossip make the decision for you. All I know is he can say his L’s and R’s and my mom told me it was cause they waited too long. Not sure how that could cause a life long impediment but apparently it did. I’ll see if I can find some articles. Maybe little one should see a specialist too.

I think with how young she is the only problem she currently may face is sucking/eating/drinking. So if it’s not a major lip tie and she isn’t having issues because of it they will probably hold off for a bit. There’s also a thing called a lip tie, which is the same idea. Just extra tissue connecting the lip or tongue! That’s all 🙂 Very common!

My son was they wanted to wait until he was older and said they would clipped it if it caused any speech problems but I asked for it to be done sooner due to him having reflux and his latch was horrible even on a bottle so he caused him to get alot of air, they referred me to an ENT he had it clipped at 6 months old it was a simple procedure done right in the doctors office that day.

@mothaaaoftwooo, usually if caught at birth they do it right at the hospital my sons wasn’t caught so I believe your daughters should be able to be done now at 2 weeks

We just found out my daughter has a tongue and lip tie this why she didn’t breastfed good she is 3 now waiting on a date for surgery and she has been in speech therapy for 6 months

My girl was severely tongue tied she wasn't eating really well so her pedi sent us to the ENT .the ent clipped it the same day as our consultation she was 1 month old now 1year old and she has been fine since
