No and my birthing center actually really advises against it bc it can be very traumatic for the child to see mommy in distress and not know what’s going on
I kinda wanted to have my son in the room. But im glad i didnt. My sons very sensitive and he would have been so scared seeing me in so much pain. Im glad i decided against it
My toddler was a year in a half, she never stayed with anyone besides me and my husband so it wasn't an option to have anyone else watch her so I cleared it with my ob to have her there. She said bring a pack n play or something to keep her occupied and it'll be fine. I ended up having my boy in the backseat with her watching (unintentional) but the plan was for her to be in the room or daddy and her walking the hospital until all the scary stuff with the epidural and needles was over with before she came to the room anyways lol
My son was there for about 3-4 hours with me. I had to drive myself to the hospital while in labor since my husband was out of town. I had no choice but to bring my son. He was almost 3. He was gone before baby was born though.
