Anyone know the nicest way to tell people that you don't like big pink bow and sequins? We found out just yesterday that we're having a girl and my sister already sent me a picture of a huge bright pink sequin headband bow and I think they're so ugly....It might be selfish but I really don't want to get a whole bunch of the stereotypical pink frilly, sparkly, girl stuff. It's just not my thing and not what I could see myself putting my daughter in. I like very soft feminine things for baby girls that almost border on gender nuetral. Like peaches, lavender, soft greens, things like that. Should I just fill my registry with things like that and hope people catch on? I'd feel like crap if they spent money on something I probably won't put my daughter in. I can put pictures of what I like vs what I'm trying to avoid in the comments if needed if anyone's confused.

I totally understand this because I was the same way! Everything pink and sparkly for a baby is just so overrated. And when they’re that little the last thing you want is glitter on them or making them wear bows bigger than they are.
I definitely would kinda shape registry towards the way you like, but more than half the time people won’t notice. Honestly I just made it known that I didn’t want that stuff for my daughter. When the conversation would take the turn about everything girly I would just politely state that for the most part we wouldn’t be doing the whole everything’s pink and sparkly thing with her🤷🏽♀️

I also kinda left most of the clothing for us to get. My registry was mostly everything but clothes lol. Or when people would ask I would just say anything but clothes since we had most of it

I would tell her that it’s pretty, but not your style and you don’t really see yourself putting her in it. I had to do that with my sister for my first. She was buying all this sports gear for him.

I feel the same way. I'm so overwhelmed by all the little girl stuff. It's all so pink and ridiculous. Some of it is cute but I'm totally not into the frilly crazy sequin stuff either. But it doesn't matter what I say, she already has 3 bins full of pink crazy frilly clothes. And there's no stopping it. 🤦🏻♀️

We flat out told people what we didn’t like or want for our daughter. Like I don’t like all Disney character things they have out for babies, so we told people absolutely no Disney anything. I only had one person that was actually offended by it, but she was just offended by everything so whatever. Personally I wish more people would tell what they don’t want or don’t like when it comes to having to buy for a baby shower. Id rather buy something they’ll like and use than waste my money on something they’ll hate. Also most of the time people leave tags on things so if you get something you really don’t want you can return/exchange it.

Nothing wrong with telling what you like . Better than people wasting their money if you’re not gonna use it . My husband hates all the big fluffy flower headbands & bows so I just use small normal ones . But nothing wrong with preference☺️ not everyone likes the same things . Or you can tell your sister if she wants to buy things like that, then when she babysits or visits she can put the bow on her so she can see her in it .

I love all the girly pink stuff hehe. But i would just fill up yur registry with the types of stuff you want or like. And just kinda make a comment around everyone saying that you like more neutral colors over pink sparkly girl stuff. They should understand.

I feel you. I’m more into the soft pinks and robins egg blues and just the simple sweet girl stuff. She’ll probably be into the sparkly stuff when she’s older. But you have control until she wants a say.
