All this will do is force these moms to avoid hospitals and clinics which could be extremely dangerous for the babies. They need help for their addiction, not punishment. When considering things like this it’s important to make decisions based on logic instead of emotion.
I didn’t even think of this! I’ve changed my mind now because I care more about those babies getting the proper medical care that they need, if this passes a lot of babies will die because the mothers will care more about not getting caught.

I never said the moms had to get help. If it’s determined drugs were used during pregnancy, the government should take the babies away if the mother isn’t intending to get better. But my point is that if the moms are scared of prosecution they will avoid prenatal care and choose to have their babies in a back alley which will prevent babies from getting the care they need. That would completely defeat the purpose of the new law.

@aengs2, You make such a valid point, and it’s something that’s overlooked and not spoken about. Maybe it’s just looking at it from another angle, but it’s so true women would avoid care. This would lead to more abandoned babies, and no intervention. These women already lose their children and the only reason they seek care is because there isn’t prosecution. I don’t know where our gal would be if my brothers gf didn’t at least get medical care and early intervention with MCFD, which lead to us being provided custody and subsequently inter-family adoption.
Those women may deserve charges in societies eyes but the babies could suffer as a result.
All for it! I have personally seen what drugs can do to a baby and it is horrible! It’s something that I wish I could unsee, my uncles girlfriend’s sister was on drugs while pregnant and her baby boy was born premature, addicted to the drugs she was taking/using, and he was 2lbs, and he was having withdrawals it was the most heartbreaking thing that I could ever have seen in person. The shaking, the pitiful cries, and the suffering that Dakota was going through was just awful, drug use while pregnant is child abuse and I think women should be charged for child abuse, child neglect, child endangerment, and assault, and go to prison for it. Dakota is almost 4 now and has issues mentally because his mother selfishly chose drugs over his health.
