Sorry for pouring this out there but I’m beyond annoyed/angry/disappointed at the government. How the fudge do I get less taxes back compare to last year not to mention I have a baby now. I work my ass off every day/week for me not to get my taxes back. Let’s not mention I don’t qualify for wic, health insurance for myself or baby/ food stamps (not that I want it because I believe people who really need it should get it). I just hate watching people on food stamps/welfare buying their groceries while their nails are nicely done, have latest iPhone/galaxy, uggs, designer bags. It’s just unbelievable!!!

I agree with above with the tax bracket. I saw you said you went to H ans R block, that's were we go, call them up, speak with the person who done your taxes, they should have no problem explaining to you why you got less back.

You were probably placed on a higher tax bracket. That's what happened to us.

Who filed your taxes? Was as much withheld in 2018 as it was in 2017?

Laws changed, some benefits/deductions can only be claimed limited amount of time.

@jalis15, I am actually not sure why people use them? TurboTax yields better results ( if $ is an issue). But I would recommend getting in touch with an actual local accountant. The difference is staggering - especially if you own real estate.

No same job. I earned a little bit more but it’s not much

@jalis15, if that’s the only change then it’s probably that little raise was just enough to bump you to a higher tax bracket.
To further make your point and probably infuriate you- the more you make the less you get back. 🙄😩
