@vspinktink I recommend sleepers! Your newborn will be wearing mostly sleepers with either long-sleeved or short-sleeved onsies underneath. This is the best for keeping them warm and not fussing with pants and shirts. At night a sleeper with snaps at the crotch and a sleep sack that zips from the bottom for easy diaper changes in the first 2-3 weeks. Burp cloths!! You cannot have enough of these! Forget newborn baby socks! They don't stay on well or are too tight around their ankle. I love the new Johnson's baby wash and lotion! Its called "CottonTouch" and it doesn't have other stuff added and smells great and makes baby's skin extra soft and moisturized. Baby hats are a must at first! Get different sizes since "newborn" can run small or too large. 0-3 months is usually the right size unless you have a smaller newborn (under 7 pounds). Stretchy receiving blankets or stretchy fleece blankets (depends on when baby is born but they still need one extra layer more than you). A bath sponge that cradles baby for sponge baths (before umbilical cord falls off - cheap and you can use in sinks for regular baths). Absorbent cloth newborn bibs and handkerchief bibs to catch spit up. Cotton balls to use in warm water for cleaning eyes or stuck on spit up around mouth, chin and under neck. Also for cleaning around umbilical cord and cleaning plasti-bell if circumcised.

One thing I will say too: Get some puppy pads!! These are awesome for lying baby down on and they are soft and catch any poop explosions and pee! They will save your couch, bed and wherever else you change baby. Much easier than using a cold changing table matress or constantly washing the mattress covers. You can even reuse them and fold over until the whole thing needs to be thrown away. Lol you'll be spending 90% of your time with baby in one area because you'll be recovering and feeding and diapering so the disposable puppy pads are awesome!

I also have a basket full of changing items and hygiene items (thermometer, bulb syringe, Windi, diaper cream, Vaseline etc) I keep in the living room. I keep a stack of diapers, wipes and a plastic bag for blow out diapers in our room for nighttime changes. The easiest thing for me especially if you have other kids is to have more than one location of supplies.

Bassinet or co-sleeper bed. Either in the bed or on the side of the bed. Rock N Play are awesome for reflux babies. White noise!

That's all I can think of right now lol!

They don't need much immediately. Clothes, diapers (nb and 1), infant carseat, and a bassinet for sleeping. Bottles and formula if you aren't exclusively breastfeeding. We didn't even give our son a pacifier until about 2 months.
Also recommend a stroller for walks and some manner of babywearing sling/wrap.😊
