Thanks ladies for sharing I just want to be mentally prepared with all the different reasons I could need assisted birth. My last resort is epidural as the thought of not being able to feel my bottom half is scary
I had forceps with my little boy, I’d been in labour for about 32 hours before I began pushing and as above was left to ineffectively push for 5 hours and as you can imagine had completely lost the plot through sheer exhaustion, I was cut, and had forceps if they didn’t work I was on my way for an emergency c-section, although I was cut I still had 3rd & 4th degree tears 😖 and had to be stitched up in theatre afterwards, but as horrific as it was I’m expecting my 2nd and am going to try and give birth naturally again even though a c-section has been given as an option. I really don’t think it’s something you can prepare for, you have this idea of how things are going to go but it can all change when you’re delivering and you just go with it. Try not to worry it’s all soon forgotten once you have your baby. Xx
I was cut and had a ventouse delivery because after 41 hours labour and 3 days and nights with no sleep, I was too exhausted to push hard enough to get her out. I was in pain with stitches for a few days because I'm allergic to codeine and ibuprofen but the healing time wasn't long at all! Trust me when you're in labour you don't care what they do as long as the baby is out and ok. It's all worth it! Xx
I had an assisted birth with my first.
He got stuck after a 20 hour labour. They cut me and used forceps which also resulted in a 4th degree tear. Also my epidural didnt work. So i was in and out of consciousness from the pain.
All my other births were a breeze
Good luck and dont over think it. Not everyone has these complications xx
My waters broke meconium stained and I laboured myself my son was back to back and his head got stuck so after two hours of pushing ended up with a section and he was here safe and well
I needed an assisted birth as my daughter was facing my hip, so no matter how much I pushed she just wasn’t coming. I do feel they left me to ineffectively push for too long (6 hours!!) but I’m ok with that as all turned out fine. I was given a spinal block incase I needed a section but they managed to get her out with forceps. They did hve to cut me but I didn’t feel a thing with hving the spinal. I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant with my second and if that happens again, I’m ok with that. Forceps were my worst nightmare before giving birth, but if they’re needed then they really aren’t that bad. My little girl had a couple of bruises but they soon went away. Hope this helps, xxx
