Moms i need some advice .. me and hubby are kind of tight with money we juss moved into our new place in Nov and of course bills etc .. and even with the help of my mom this whole BabyShower is comin to be real expensive .. would you guys not throw one and just save all the money to buy baby everything he/she needs or risk being on the lower side of money for the party .. we planned it for a month before baby’s arrival .. it would be my hubbies first shower but he’s the one who brought up the idea of cancelling .. I’m confused shower or no shower 🤔

Baby showers people bring gifts maybe they will bring what baby needs and then you can still have the party if that makes sense xx

No shower. Even if people bring gifts you can't guarantee it is everything you will need. Save the money and just buy the necessities for now. A newborn doesn't need a lot. Maybe you could have a donuts for diapers party. Those are cheap. Provide donuts and coffee in exchange for diapers which you know you'll need and you still get to have a small celebration

Most gifts you get wont be your big ticket items, its going to be clothes, accessories, and bath stuff. You could do a "sip and see" after baby and most people will bring diapers wipes and clothes .

I never had a baby shower we just bought everything we ended I did get a lot of gifts from family who wanted to get the baby something

I say skip the shower and just get everything you need. Baby showers are a gamble you never really know what people will bring and how many people will bring the same things. Get everything baby needs and maybe in a few months you guys can do something small to celebrate. Doesn’t necessarily have to be before baby comes but it can even be 6 months after.
Also another option would be your mom maybe finding someone else who might be interested in putting together a shower for you guys because technically the person throwing the shower takes over the full expense. If she finds someone else who is also interested and doesn’t mind pitching for the budget you guys won’t have to come out of pocket.

You don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds on a baby shower... just make sure you have food for guests and a baby shower cake

You could skip it or have something simple and small and still get to experience having one with your hubby
