What are some breastfeeding must haves that will make breastfeeding easier? I’m going shopping and already plan on buying a boppy pillow. Any creams to help with soreness, foods/drinks to help with supply, etc

I bought earth mama nipple butter from amazon. Amazing organic stuff !! And the lansinoh heat cold therapy pads where amazing for the pain and Engorgement .

I wouldn’t pump until at least 3 weeks so you can establish a good latch . And boobie pads are very needed lol I leak a lot when I get let downs so I have to have them !

I bought the manual pump . It’s amazing .

I was wanting to start pumping to build up a supply for when I go back to work. Should I still wait 3 weeks?

@tylersmommy11116, I’d say wait till you establish a good latch . You don’t want to loose that if she prefers the bottle

Buy a cheap manual pump. Honestly it was such a lifesaver so many times!

@okhristich, my insurance said they don’t cover breast pumps. What doctor do I talk to about prescribing me one, my OB or?

@tylersmommy11116, OB is the doc who would normally prescribe a breast pump. But you only normally need a prescription if your insurance pays for it. Otherwise you can just buy one. Or your hospital may have them available for rent.

Lotsssss of water.. water enhancers like Dasani drops are great so you don’t feel like you’re drinking just water all day. A heating pad is great for pain.. like whenever I had sharp pain or soreness I would throw that bad boy over them for like 10 min and feel so much better. & a “breastfeeding/pumping” station next to your bedside.. it literally saved my life to have one of those plastic 3 drawer things from Walmart that rolled. I would move it from room to room. Have everything in it, including snacks, things to keep you entertained, all my pumping supplies, stuff for baby.. i would just restock it once a day and it was all right there handy

For me it was the boppy , nipple cream , and a pump , so dad could help through the night and allow me some sleep

Which nipple cream do you recommend? Someone gave me a tube of the first years brand because she ended up not breastfeeding but it doesn’t really help at all.
