Has anyone child had to undergo surgery for a hernia?
My daughter did. She had a huge one we took care of when she was 3. Worse part was watching her wake up because she was so confused and scared even though I was rocking her 😔. She never needed additional pain meds and was home playing the same day.
Is there a bandage over it afterwards and do we have to clean it everyday until it heals ?
@_.mommy.alexus._ she did have a bandage we had to keep on for a couple days. I do remember she wouldn’t let us touch or look at her stomach for awhile. She would flip out during bath and getting dressed. She got over it after a couple weeks but it was a pain during. Good luck
I haven't but I did as a child. I had one on my vagina. It was a smooth surgery and no issues afterwards. It's been 24 years, 2 kids, zero issues!! I have like a little scar like 2 inches long where a c section scar would be but very short
My daughter just had her hernia repaired in July
@_.mommy.alexus._, looks great! Tiny little scar that’s still fading. Recovery was great because she is young she bounced back fast. Was an outpatient surgery and the worst part was walking her into the OR and watching her little eyes close. Took about an hour I believe. She snuggled right into me after surgery and began waking up. Recovery was about two weeks and she was then released to do her normal activity’s. I was super upset and worried when I found out she needed surgery but it was a lot easier than expected and she now tells everyone about her scar lol
What do they do exactly ? Cut of the hernia and sew it together?
Not my daughter but I did as a child and my niece did as well. It's a very minor surgery. My niece and myself both were recovered within a week
My daughter has had one since she was born. And she’s a year old now. Her pediatrician told me it may take up to 3 years to go away. I can see it poking out over top her belly button.
