Does sending your toddler to their grandparents house 3/4 weekends a month seem excessive? My daughter goes to school for 2.5 hours a day 5 days a week. I'm with her ever afternoon. My parents live around 30 mins away and don't see my daughter during the week. She plays with her older cousin who is also there. My fiancee and his mother always make back handed comments like I'm lazy and forcing my parents to take my daughter. It's annoying as f***. I've told my fiance that I would keep her home but half the time he's gone anyway so I don't know why he's bothered by it. It gives me a break and my parents enjoy the time with their grandkids.

My parents started doing this years ago, right before my second child was born. If we have things going on I keep the kids and whatnot but they usually go every weekend. My parents get upset if I don’t take them my kids. And my baby just started going and staying the night also. They don’t stay the whole weekend, just Friday nights and so me and hubby make it date night

Sometimes she stays the whole weekend sometimes she doesn't. It just depends. My parents are understanding if I want her to stay home. I just don't get why my fiance and his mother care so much

I’m not sure either, his mother maybe she’s jealous?

Is it because his mom is not getting the time like that with your kid??

It's a really tricky situation. My daughter isn't my fiance's bio but he's been here since she was 9 months and she's almost 4.5. His mother has an active social life with friends while my parents don't. Sometimes his mom will ask to do something but it is always last minute or can never give me an exact time where my parents usually have plans made for the upcoming weekend by Wednesday or Thursday. Maybe she is jealous buty daughter would be available if it didn't seem like an afterthought because MIL isn't busy with her friends

that's what I was thinking it was a little jealous that she's not getting that time or once that time and doesn't say anything kind of have that problem my husband will make that kind of comments about his parents but they're always busy going somewhere after they say they're too old to be driving and want to come up there or when they get to see my girls they are drunk and have friends over so they don't spend time with them or they rush and leave.

It sounds like a lot to me, but Ive never had the option of sending my kids to stay with their grandparents, so it just isn’t something I’m used to.
Maybe she’s jealous?

My kids used to go every other weekend to my mom’s after we moved. Now they only go about once a month, just because we are so busy. They go spend the night with my MIL about once every other month, except during softball season, my son spends every other Saturday with her because I can’t bear to take a 2 year old to the ball field from 8 in the morning until after midnight.

The whole weekend is a bit much but like you said she doesn't always stay the whole weekend. Does your MIL ever ask to take her? If she doesn't then it really shouldn't concern her how much time your daughter gets to spend with her family. If she wanted a weekend or two maybe that would be understandable but I don't see the issue with having a routine to spend the night at grandma's on the weekends.

Well I hope not. My kids going to their grandparents like every other weekend for a day. My in-laws request to see them that much. They sometimes get the for a few hours one day during the week. Every one deserves a break. If she’s ok with it and so are you then it seems fine to me.

No it doesn’t I wish I didn’t live w my mom so I could send my daughter away for a weekend or two lmao

I do think it's an excessive amount and strange to only have your own child one weekend a month to none. I can't imagine sending my kids away that often and I'm home with them all the time.

I really enjoy the break. I get studying done. Clean. Plan my wedding and design my new house. I have a glass of wine uninterrupted. Maybe it is a lot but it work for my daughter who is the most important person in this situation. She has never once asked to come home during her time away.
