@boymom123 yes it is. Did you read the article? They go into details about how they gather and figure the results. Its not that they are wildly inaccurate, theyre just not totally accurate either. The lack of dna in their database is what makes it inaccurate. Also, they dont share information. So if you get a test at ancestry and your dad goes to 23andme your dna wont be linked. Every link you have (in the same database) makes the matches and information more accurate. It generalizes a good deal of info to "complete" the test.
