Help ladies....any tips to stop a toddler from clapping and screaming at me and his father? Tried a ton of things& now a time out chair seems to work here and there but not all the time. In need of ideas.
Do you mean slapping or clapping?I dont see an issue with clapping. And what type of screaming are we talking about?
Timeouts work for us, 2 minutes now that he's two, as well as taking away whatever he threw a fit over. If it's because he's impatient and wanting something NOW he gets timeout and has to wait even longer, or completely loses whatever it was. He got mad yesterday and hit me because his train wouldn't do what he wanted. I took the train away and put him in timeout. That seemed to work
lol He claps and screams at you?
What is he screaming? Is the clapping to get your attention or like a warning?
Take favorite things away and also be kind of persistent and award good behavior and as you taking them away let him know "No you don't do this to mommy and daddy" with time out do it based in his age and up to two minutes my boys used to throw things and scream and whatever yiu do don't show him that you're upset it works wonders cause in their lil minds their like why she isn't getting upset
Take screen time away (if he gets any), start taking stuffed animals or favorite toys away everytime it happens & make him earn them back with a good day of behaving.
Be persistent!!
