Any mom's here having back issues from the epidural? Smh I really don't want to get it. But who wants to be in pain? Yeah I know it's not permanent pain, but everyone's pain tolerance is different. And just because a mother chooses to get pain medication doesn't make her less of a mother. Everyone's telling me do it natural. This is my first pregnancy, what if I can't do it? 😔 #NeedSomeAdvicePlease

Unfortunately we’ve been led to believe that labor is painful which is why we allow it to be painful. In reality, contractions should actually be felt as pressure and when we surrender to this pressure and what our bodies need to do by moving, dancing, spiraling and squatting, even sitting in warm water, this “pain” goes away and can actually become pleasurable. Labor was never meant to be painful. This was fed to us by patriarchy to keep women disempowered during something that is so naturally biological, healing and life transforming.

I didn’t want to get an epidural - I was scared as well. But at some point it started to feel like one super strong and super painful contraction, so I ended up asking for it! My back was only sore for the first few days, but then it was not just my back lol It turned out not nearly as bad as I had imagined.
