Anyone else feel like their parents are useless grandparents lol like god forbid we try to get a date night 🙄🙄 it’s like pulling teeth might as well drag our kid along .

100% however in my case mine don’t even offer , not even on a whim lol or they really miss their grand child they still don’t ! It’s more than just giving them toys or ice cream . It’s the memories , they just aren’t involved . And that’s where I feel like they are useless , my mother & father are separated for over a year so I thought maybe he would want to watch his grandson to see him and also gives us a few hours of a break but negative lol that’s what kills me ! But I don’t want to hear the I miss you when no one puts effort 🤷🏻♀️
@franny.93, That’s the part I don’t get. Why aren’t grandparents more involved? I couldn’t imagine not being involved as much as I love my kids I can only imagine my grand babies!! Now I won’t raise them for my children but I will def love them and have them in my life!
I agree @franny.93, my mom is the biggest pain in my ass. She’s always there for my brother and sister kids and they always give her last minute notice but for me I always will ask in advance and I get nothing but excuses. Or I’ll literally be laid up in the hospital and she ain’t no where to be found. The funniest thing about it she’s always bitching how she never gets to see my kids🙄🙄 nothing pisses me off more when she promises them shit and never falls through with what she tells them.
My mother is like that. Don’t get me wrong she had a few days when she’s reliable . But she would rather not be babysitting instead hang out with her company and smoke all day 😏🤷🏽♀️.
As for my bf side of the family I don’t trust them too much to watch our son 😩🤦🏾♀️
Uhh no. I never expect anyone to watch my kid so I can get a break except for his dad. I’m grateful when they offer, but I’d never get pissy or upset if they said no.
Do you offer to pay them? If you do already, maybe increase the pay and see what they say then. I know it seems like you shouldn't have to but that's just how some parents are 😣 I don't pay my dad but I give him money every once in awhile because he tries to give a little attitude
No I don’t offer money because I rarely ever ask for anyone’s help lol but I would , my mom puts the stank face when I even utter the words lol so then it turns to nvm
@franny.93 I don't like asking people to watch my daughter either. The only time I let her go with someone is if they ask or if I'm in desperate need and my husband is at work.
My MIL is like that. Even to leave him with her to go grocery shopping is a problem. Smh

@franny.93 exactly, same here. We rarely ever ask and tbh we've never had a date night since he was born. When we go out, we take him with us.

No. I wouldn’t say useless just because they don’t give me a night out. I don’t expect that from them. I think it’s great when grandparents offer up time with the grandkids but I never just expect that from them. The kids are my responsibility. If I want a night out I’ll pay for it. Even if it’s my parents watching the kids. And I’ll even send food with them. 😊
