How do you get your 1 year old to sit still while you read to them? I never had this issue with my daughter she loved when I'd read to her. My son on the other hand as soon as I open the book and start reading he takes the book and runs off. If I try to stop him he fights me for it. He changed pages and it's a struggle to actually read it. I really want to be reading to him on a daily basis but he makes it very difficult so we don't get as much reading time in as I would like.

Idk ds3 will hardly sit still for anything.

That's how he is too. My daughter was always so laid back. She never really got into anything she shouldn't have. She wasn't really a climber. She's always been a good listener He's the complete opposite lol

Some boys ( and girls) just have this energy. This was my son. I felt the same exact way. Hang in there mama. Keep reading to him. Keep it short. Even if it’s only a page before he gets up and flees. I would pick a different book and read as he played at times. When he’s ready, he’ll sit longer and bring books to you. Good luck!

Thank you! He's got so much more energy than my daughter had. (Not that she wasn't energetic he's just on a whole nother level sometimes lol) I try.

no boy energy is definitely a thing . I totally understand you. Keep up the great work. The fact that you’re concerned shows that early literacy is important to you , so he’ll be fine.
Oh and since my guy is a mover, we do storytelling about so much and loads of talking!!!

I make up stories when he plays with his toys all the time and so does his sister. What I would give to have the imagination she has😂 everyone told me when I got pregnant with him that he would be a handful compared to her and they were right lol. He's a great baby. Always happy and smiling. He just isint afraid to climb whatever he can and he gets into absolutely everything as soon as he sees a chance lol. He never sits still.

I didn’t. He’s never been one to sit still. Once he was closer to 3, he finally calmed down enough for a book. Just keep reading even if he’s not listening.

That's what I plan on doing. Hopefully someday he will decide to come sit down and listen lol.

My son is 1 and I’ll read one page and he will walk away after that and play with something else. Then he will sit on my lap again and I’ll read the second page and point out colors and such and then he will go and play again. The attention spans is not long at all.
I jus make the books available to my son so he can familiarize himself with them. He will sometime sit on his own and open a book. Looks at a page or two and calls it a day. It’s a start so I let it be. Now if he was like 3 years old the it’s a different story.

My son doesn't really care to try lol. He doesn't play with them or touch them unless I bring them to him and even then it's short lived. I figure just a page or so at a time while I have his attention will be enough for now. I don't want to turn him off to it so I let him play with them more than anything.

lol that’s what I do. My son treats it like a toy oh an he bites it. 🙄 literally a book worm eating through the cardboard 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

😂😂😂 my son sticks everything he gets his hands on in his mouth he's never actually taken a bite out of a book though 😂
