How did you guys start taking the bottle away at night. My DD is 15 months and wants bottle before bed and wakes up 2-3x a night for another. I've been having to water them down with 3oz milk and 5oz water. Watering it down hasn't made her want it any less :(

My son was easy he only took the bottle for formula and once his birthday I just took it away. He didn’t mind his paci he still had and his about to be 2

@cjohnston, yeah I’m getting ready to take my sons paci away idk how I’m going to do it. He has this sad face and when he cry’s it’s so sad

uh oh. I know. I hate it when she gets upset. It makes it so hard to do anything. My mom thinks I'm turning her into a brat bc I wont let her cry it out but shes so overdramatic for a baby and she pitches the biggest fit.

I just took away the bottle last week cold turkey. He surprisingly didn't wake up wanting it and slept rather well. Going to bed was alright since he hadn't napped that day, but I'm still trying to get him on a set bed time. We are working on it. I've given him a stuffed animal and that helps him go to sleep. I know if he asks for bottle before bed, I keep his sippy cup nearby and give him water. However he hasn't wanted to drink milk at all anymore :/ not in a sippy cup at least

@bluepenguin yes it's very hard. I have a drama queeen on my hands lol. I feel like she eats soooo much during the day too already thats another reason I want her to stop. Shes 26lbs 😟😟 I'll try the talk it out method in a couple of nights. Her dad works swing shift so he can actually help me with a meltdown if she starts having one.

yeah my son is a big boy too. He's like 35lbs right now but he's very tall. I actually was happy my boyfriend wasn't here because he works during the night because he doesn't like to hear Noah cry and would cave in and give the bottle

@bluepenguin that's how her dad is when hes got to work her rather just give it to her.

In regards to the middle of the night, my son’s doctor told us that once they’re 6 months you no longer need to feed them or give milk when they wake up in the middle of the night. Anything past 6 months is likely just comfort feeding. She said that when they wake up, you should comfort them without picking them up. That’s the path we took beginning at 6 months and it worked wonders.

Thank you I'll read up on this. I'm afraid she is eating out of comfort at this point. She acts like she is going to die if she doesnt get it in the middle of the night 🙁 she will scream and cry until shes almost out of breath and shell throw the paci across the room. I wish her dr would have suggested something like this before

Ugh I know it. So is avellana. The dr or health dept never mentioned when to take away so I had no idea. She will scream bloody murder like im killing her if she doesn't get her bottle. Me and steve have been super calm trying to calm her down but she cries until she can't breathe so we give in.

He never told me that lol 🙄 we were trying to figure out what milk she could tolerate first though. We mix 3/4 water with 1/4 milk and she drinks it fine. Plain water she wont touch in a bottle and will just pitch a fit
