So here’s an update ladies: I cut a little bit of the tip off... and I just put her down for the night, gave it to her.. and when I left her, she took it right out and was just holding it... but no fussing or crying.. think she’s sound asleep too. Fingers crossed!

Keep her busy in the day and only give it to her at night and slowly wing her off

My friend let her daughter put it in a build a bear and she carried that bear everywhere and never cried for the pacifier once

Right before they turn 1 or start walking... Whichever comes first.

Also doing this because she needs to learn Pacifier are for babies like her soon to be sister and now big girls like her.. I don’t want her getting jealous or taking it from the baby.

I took it away from my son on his 2nd birthday. I had spent a week or two weaning him down to only want it at bedtime and one night I just took it and never gave it back and he almost didnt even seem to notice! It's all about patience and timing it for when your little one might not even notice it's gone like taking it on a day they seem to be not caring for it.

Now that my baby turned 1 in slowing taking it away during the day because it helps with transition and hopefully by when her baby sister comes she’ll only use it at night or not at all.

My daughter's second birthday is Thursday and we planned on taking it away then... Turns out she wants To Save em For her baby sissy..lol we are gonna run with that idea cause I'm nervous as hell.. She only uses it for Bedtime and nap time once a day. 😳😩

@sleepymommy, @amberdaugherty, @tori_portillo, @davidmom, my daughter is 14 months old.. and I am nervous because she’ll wake up in the middle of the night screaming for it if it fell out and she can’t find it. She does only have it when she is napping or sleeping for the night.... but I’m all nervous that when we take it away, it will be like “cry it out” all over again 😫

Honestly I don't think there's an easy way to take it but just taking it. Yes she will cry yes the first few night even the first few weeks mighy be hell but think about it this way she's upset for a few sleepless nights over years of braces and messed up teeth. I see 2 and 3 year olds with them still (and after being in the dental field) it drives me nuts thinking about how their parents are messing up their teeth 😭😭

10 months. The sooner thr better after they start getting teeth they can cause issues. If your child is giving you a hard time cold turkey what I did was cut the tip off of them and gave them to my daighter that way and after 2 days she didn't want it anymore cause when she sucked it went flat

So cutting the tip of it is OK to do? Maybe I should try that first..

@mombie4ever yeah it won't cause any issue all that will happen is when she sucks it will go flat and be hard to keep in her mouth

I took my son’s paci at 6 months old completely and plan to do the same with baby #2, it was easy for my son to give up his paci because he didn’t suck on it he just teethed on it like a teething toy so I took it and switch it out with all his different toys that he has and now he doesn’t even remember his paci.

I’m in the same boat.. I only give it to her when she is going to sleep other than that I leave it in her crib. Or if we are going out and about I take it and give it to her when she is fussy which is not helping haha

@tori_portillo your welcome. I came a cross this video about theses pacifiers there's 5 that gradually get smaller and I didn't wanna buy more pacifiers so I seen moms saying they just cut them and it had the same effect and it worked for us.!

My son was a year old. At 9 months we cut back to just giving it to him a bed and nap time. Then just took it always all together at a year old.
