Well I started my keto egg fast 3 days ago and I’ve already dropped 5lbs. Has anyone done keto to lose weight and manage gallstones? My doctor told me low fat but every time I did low fat I had massive gallbladder attacks, now that I’ve been doing high fat I’ve had no issues or stomach pains that I used to constantly have. I looked over quite a few forums and websites where people and doctors were saying keto is one of the best ways to keep your gallbladder working and from producing stones, I’m still a little wary about it but so far I have no digestive issues or attacks. Just wondering if anyone’s done it long term and if it really helped manage the issue without having your gallbladder removed.

I wish I would've known a diet was an option they just removed my gallbladder and I've been loosing weight

@bennysmom, they wouldn’t even remove mine so I’ve been seeking my own remedies. It seems to work so far I guess I’ll find out in the long run. I’m glad you’re not in pain anymore though, the doctor just told me low fat which wrecked me so I’m trying high fat.

Why wouldn't they remove it? I feel better not passing stones but my body is pretty weak and I get headaches nauseous and dizzy. I still get upset stomach with everything I eat but I'll take that over the pain.

@bennysmom, my doctor told me he wanted me to try to manage it instead of remove it. I’ve had gallstones for a year and two months and recently started getting actual stomach pain so I’ve been on keto and haven’t had my stomach aching and no attacks yet. I’ll try this for a bit but if it just keeps getting worse I’m going to a different doctor

Did they test your liver enzymes? Because mine were at risk for infection is why they did surgey right away

@bennysmom, no they didn’t do any testing, he told me if it does get worse he would do an ultrasound and blood work and if I started getting attacks lasting more than 4 hours with vomiting then I needed to go to the emergency room. I’ve had them get to a point I did throw up and refused to eat but he still didn’t want to do it.
