Does anyone know if they can delay cord clamping if you’re having a scheduled c-section?? I will have to be put to sleep due to not being able to have an epidural or spinal block and I was wondering if that was still possible? 🙈🙈

I looked it up on Google does I'm having a schedule c-section And says they can't do delay clamping because once the universe is cut open it no Pulses so there's no way of it the blood getting push through the core to the baby anyways at least it's like Google said

With cesarean section deliveries, it is not clear if there is a benefit to delayed cord clamping. In a c-section, the uterus has been cut and it does not contract the same way as a uterus after a vaginal delivery. Less blood gets pushed to the baby before the cord is clamped.Apr 21, 2014

That's what I read on Google but I would still ask your dr

I will most definitely ask but thank you for checking! I read mixed opinions on it so I guess it depends on doctor! 🤷🏼‍♀️ thank you again though!

Why cant you get an epidural?

I have a form of lordosis! It’s where the lower spine curves severely inward. Because of the curvature it’s impossible to reach the section of your back where an epidural goes or a spinal block 🙈

no no! 🤣 I’m only 4’10 and no one had realized I had it because of how short my torso is! They found out when I was trying to get one the first go around ☺️

Good to know. I’m having a c section and wanted to do delayed cord clamping as well but from what I see it’s not an option

It just depends. They were able to delay for 60 seconds with my twins. I guess it just depends on the dr and hospital policies

I'm sorry you have the medical issue where you will have to be under general anesthesia. I cant have an epidural again after my first birth due to my spine and then the epidural causing permanent issues. As far as delayed cord clamping it's not a huge benefit to the baby with a c-section. I asked this same question because there was a huge possibility I was going to need a scheduled c-section for MEDICAL reasons with my last birth. I would have been under general anesthesia as well ❤

It makes me sad that there isn’t a huge benefit with a c-section! I have to have another c-section due to some other complications my dr found during my first labor, he said I could try a VBAC but he highly recommended against it due to me almost hemorrhaging out before he could put me under for an emergency c-section and my extremely narrow pelvic bones! Wasn’t ever my dream plans but whatever it takes to get my babies out safely ❤️ I’d endure it a 1000 times over! Labor sucks with no pain meds but whatever it takes for our babies!

I understand! I had epidural with my first and had hemorrhaging and retained placenta. I had my second child in water so the pain was manageable without meds. My third, I was induced for medical reasons and only had the option of Stadol for pain up til 7 CM then I was on my own. The pain was horrible! I wanted another water birth but I lost 3 babies due to a clotting disorder so wasnt an option this time. I know it sucks when you can't have the birth you want. Even though you know the goal is a safe delivery it's still a disappointment. ❤
