Hi ladies! How long did you moms take off after birth? I’ve submitted my FMLA for 12 weeks.

I got no paid time off. Thank goodness I had a perfect delivery and felt completely fine hours after giving birth. I went back after two weeks.

12 weeks paid but I have my own 4 weeks of Gpt time to use first then the job kicks in when I run out of my own. But the hospital has this thing called bonding time u can take an additional unpaid leave for 4 more weeks after the 12.

10 weeks unpaid with my son. We were running out of money so I had to go back. I’m a stay at home mom this time around.

I stayed at home for two years with my daughter. This time around it’s going to be hard to leave him. 🥺

@ninacymone, So sorry. It’ll be hard but you have to do what you have to do. Everything will work out just fine.

Do they pay your maternity leave? In Homestead they don’t pay you at all, you’re all by yourself from the day you stop working. They only save you the position you had for at least 12 months. After that, you’ll have to re apply and see if they accept you back. I don’t say Miami in general bc I don’t know about every place existent.

@astridoll, Oh yes. It is. Grateful for what I have. Could’ve been shorter.

@ninacymone, shorter or nothing. I edited my first comment. Here you submit your FMLA just to have your position saved until you come back. All by yourself as soon as you leave to have your baby, no money. And if by any chance you take longer, you lose the job. 😄

I took 8 weeks. After that I would have went without pay.

Yes. That’s why I have to return. But, I think I can go uncompensated if I wanted additional time off. I’m not sure how that works in the aspect of job security.

@ninacymone, on FMLA you only have job security for the 12 weeks. Unless you have a medical reason to reapply and start a new FMLA.

@massmomma16, Ok. I figured I would need additional documentation/medical reason from the doctor to take more time off.
