Sure but the government workers knew this could be potentially yearly occurrence. They signed their contract. It’s like being a fire fighter and being surprised that you might get burned.

I read about some traffic controllers at the airport complaining. Sure very important job - no questions about it. But they also make 6 figure salary - and you are telling me you can’t have a month of savings? That’s on them.

I do feel bad for people who are in really bad life situations and need temporary help.

I absolutely do not feel bad for government workers who chose that as their workplace and do have it in their contracts clearly stated. Going by that I should be enraged when I’m treating a patient and I might get sick/pricked/splattered with blood during surgery. Those people chose their careers. No one forced them.

@eviedoll, do you truly think that lots of our crime comes from people crossing the border illegally from Mexico? Do you not see the news daily and see how much crime is committed by American citizens? Have you not paid attention to the domestic terrorism that occurs right on our own soil by people born and raised here?

Do not try to downplay my intelligence with quips like “the news you watch.” I can do research of my own accord and come to conclusions of my own as well as reading news sources. Exactly what news channel are you watching that is so informative and unbiased?

So when President Obama dealt with a government shutdown and it affected you, it was a big deal to you, but now that it seemingly isn’t affecting you (simply deciphering that from the language you’re using which could be an incorrect assessment), it’s less of an issue?

The Democrats have tried to compromise with him. This man wants $5B for a border wall that many American citizens aren’t even on board with, and he’s not hearing it. There are Republicans that don’t agree with him either, so don’t simply toss this on Democrats. If it’s a major matter of national security, why not add a border wall at the Canadian border as well? Surely criminals come to the US from there as well. Why don’t we just build walls around the full border of the United States? Criminals come in from everywhere. Criminals are homegrown.
