I financed a car from this used car dealership in July last year. (2018) and ever since I got the car the check engine light has been on and the guy at the dealership has just been ignoring me so I gave up and the car seemed ok. But a few months in the car would stall, jerk and slip every now and then. I would have to pull over pop the hood and let it sit for a few minutes. Then it would be ok. But for the last 4 months my car completely died. Just put a new battery in it and everything the month before it died just to see if that would help. So my boyfriend went to the dealership and talked to the guy who sold me the car. He told him his mechanic wasbt in yet that they'll call in a few hours. Waited all day haven't heard anything. Called the next day it went straight to voicemail. So I'm wondering if there's anything I can do about this. He's a jerk and tryed saying he was going to sew me when I haven't done anything wrong. (And that day I was trying to buy a car, I traded in a Jeep that was my down payment of 20,000 and he said I didn't have to put money down on top, turns out he liked Because he asked for $500 so I can out it down and said he would work out a payment plan on it. Also had me test drive about 10 different cars before he came up with the car I financed. Wasn't even what I was looking for. But it was in my budget) so basically he was stalling me. I was just so ready and needed a car on top of not knowing what I was doing. This was the first time I bought a car

They sold me a defective car and ignored my calls when trying to get there mechanic to look at my car ( they said it would be cheaper through them) plus put 5,000 $$ in it when they kept ignoring my calls and it still had the same issue. There's got to be something I can do. I'm calling a lawyer to find out once I get the chance

My husband is a mechanic and said that you driving it with the check engine light on probably ruined the car, especially with the way it was acting. You can always go to an autozone or mechanic when your check engine light is on to find out whats wrong. At AutoZone its free.

He sounds like a crook. I remember reading about used car dealerships that would do similar to what you described, because they figured they could con you out of more money, but in a way that still fell into legal territory. So unless you called them out at it at the time, you're pretty much screwed. You can always consult a lawyer, but you may be out of luck.

I should have known. It was a family owned business and a ghost town and I spent all day there not one person showed up that didn't work for him

if other people have raised issue with him, you can try joining together. He could always get scared. Family owned businesses aren't always shady, but this one sounds like it. I hope a lawyer can give you some good advice and answers.
(Also, Google reviews really do work! I left a bad review for an auto painting place (because they did a shit job) and they called the next day saying they'd repaint if I changed the review. But in your case I'd definitely speak to a lawyer first.)

I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope you are able to figure something out. I know that there are a lot of loopholes for used car sellers and a lot of time, you even sign papers when purchasing that basically state you are buying the car as is. That guy definitely sounds like a crook. Hopefully the law in this situation is not on his side and everything works out in your favor.
