Okay ladies, first pregnancy. So many questions that books don't answer. Sorry, this is kinda long.
What do I do about a pediatrician? Find one now? Do I schedule an appointment for baby before birth? How old does baby have to be for first appointment? I'm vaccinating, when do those appointments start? If it's easier to inbox me, feel free. I hit the halfway point of my pregnancy and am freaking out about what to do once he arrives. Help please ❤
To add^ they didn’t let me leave until I made an apt for that Friday which was only a couple days.
They’ll help you find one if no one is available.
Always better to find one you like ahead of time though.
Also, on the day of birth babe will get their first shot of hep and usually only get their second at their 1-2 month apt.
I had 1w apt and then a 2w apt. And just had her 1m Monday.
Vaccinations start day one at the hospital within hours of birth.
At least in my state they do. 🤷🏻♀️
You can start looking at pediatricians now if you want. At least get an idea of where and if they’re accepting new patients. The hospital usually helps you set up the first appointment I think. You will tell them the pediatrician you chose when you give birth, if you don’t have one they just assign one that works through the hospital.
Where I’m at, a lot of pediatrician offices will do meet and greets while you’re pregnant and the OBGYN’s offices usually have recommendations. We had our son’s first appointment the day after we left the hospital, but he was jaundice and needed his bilirubin (sp?) checked. Vaccines started at the hospital, but your PED should be able to give you a print out of when the all will be.
