I have tried everything I can think of, I swear. My son loves to punch people, bite them, scratch them, pinching, headbutting... everything. And that includes to himself. He now has a bite mark on his arm where you can see his four little teeth indented. He also slams his head into anything, on purpose, as hard as he can. He’s only 13 months old. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have no clue what to do.
Sooner they get looked at the sooner they can help curve the bad habits and teach them to use their words instead. I think. I don’t know. It could be a phase. But it sounds like he really wants to express himself but he can’t. So he may be a little more intelligent than your average 13 month old he just doesn’t yet know how to put it to use productively.
@mikailahandbaby, I’d have him seen by his primary care first. Maybe his pain receptors are blocked somehow? Might be something you need to know about.
@joeywiththegoodhair, I’ll definitely look into any care that I can. It’s worried me, because he’s been like this for months
He might need to see a behavioral therapist or even an occupational therapist.
That’s what I was thinking (a behavioral therapist), but thought that might be a little much for a 13 month old
All I can say is it’s a phase. Tell him no sternly and redirect. For the headbutting is he doing it cuz his head hurts? And the biting could be due to teething
He laughs after he headbutts someone and bites them. Or does anything that we react in a way that shows us hurt. It’s like he finds it funny... It’s definitely not though.
@mikailahandbaby, my son went thru a head butting and biting phase. Hurts a lot. Lol. Maybe ask in the peaceful parenting group

And also to have that on file so people know he’s not getting beat 😅
