I started with cereal at 5m with both boys. My almost 6m old still isn't really big on cereal yet so I'm gonna try it again in another week or so. I used rice with my first but I guess you don't really have to use the rice, you can start using oatmeal right away.
just formula. But he was drinking so much formula, like 24-30ish oz and he had to be started on some type of solid cuz his dr was worried. If not, we wouldn’t have.
Rice cereal isn’t recommended anymore as it’s proven scientifically to not keep the baby any longer than milk/breast milk/formula and it can be detrimental to their stomach.
baby led weaning. You offer baby everything you eat (with few exceptions) and you give it in a size as you would eat. Whole French fry. Half a banana. And you let the kid go at it. Gagging is absolutely normal and helps them learn what to do. You should know how to recognize choking and how to react if it happens.
Madeline is now 19.5mo. She has never choked and isn’t really a picky eater.
Both my older two hated the rice cereal & now from what I’ve been told, they’re not saying to use it anymore because it’s no good for their bellies . So with my newest baby, I probably won’t be using it at all & ill either go right to baby food or I’ll start with some oatmeal .
Are you going to wait until she is 6 months old to give her baby food? Or earlier? My baby seems ready for food and I have nooo clue what to give him now!!! I feel like 4 months is too little for baby food but maybe I’m wrong?
I usually just play it by year & see what each one needs & wants . I feel like 6 months is a good age, I’m told if they can sit up on their own they’re basically ready . My first one started pretty fast . She had rice cereal around 4 months & baby food at 5 . But my second it was 6 months . So I just wait to see when I think they’re ready & how their bellies are . I feel like I’ll probably do 6 months with this baby because her belly seems to be a lot more sensitive & I don’t wanna make anything harder on her .

I don’t give her any baby cereals. I just give her the baby foods she can have. And her formula. Until I speak to her doctor.
