Many suggested that I allow my children’s father to enter their lives at his own will. As a mother it is my responsibility to protect my children and I couldn’t allow myself to bring heartache and uncertainty to a child who doesn’t understand why their father has chosen to be an absent parent. My children’s father left THREE YEARS AGO. Within those three years I didn’t reach out to him for anything. I handled my business and took the responsibility of being a single parent. After THREE YEARS of absolutely no physical contact or phone calls he had the audacity to send a message asking to see his daughter, not mentioning his son that he’s denied since he left. I declined the visit. I declined the visit to protect my children. To protect my children from the emptiness, the uncertainty, the unanswered question and most importantly the heartache. Not only did I declined the visit because of his absence because I also declined the visit because I couldn’t allow him to acknowledge one child and not acknowledge their other. My children deserve a father who is consistent. A father who doesn’t make broken promises. A father who is there throughout the journey of childhood. A father who’s there to witness their incredible milestones they’ve accomplished. Most importantly my children deserve to feel the void of emptiness and hope that one day their father can take accountability and take care of his responsibilities!

You are so right! A parent like that really upsets a child's self esteem and their feelings of self worth. I am quite sure they will find other solid male role models in their lives.

I agree with you my dear. He decided not to be in their lives, and that’s it. Children are no objects you take them and live them whenever you want. And he asked you about the girl only, meaning he still denies his son. Forgive him from the bottom of your heart and never reveal your kids that painful truth so they don’t ever feel pain or resentment in their beautiful hearts. Keep being strong mama, you got this. God bless you!

This this especially the last part about accountability and responsibilities. I’m going through the same thing so many people having opinions about what I need to do as far as co parenting with my sons father mind you my baby will only be 4 weeks old tomorrow. I left him before I found out I was pregnant (long story 7 years too long to be exact). However I told him from day one I will never keep you from your child. I’ve been meeting him more than half way been extremely accommodating patient and some how because I don’t want to ever be with him again nor even be friendly I’m the bad person smh. Meanwhile he does nothing to be a parent. When he visits which is like once a week by his choice all he wants to do is hold and look at my son no feeding no changing diapers like wtf. Sorry I vented on your post I’m like really spent. No one gets it.

Same thing I did over 5 years ago. Gotta put your child first
