I was diagnosed with low thyroid which was how I found out why I couldn't conceive..was put on meds and conceived 2wks later on the medication..it can cause miscarriage if not treated
no issues at all once on the medication. They started me out on a low dose of 25 and I still wasn't feeling well I was losing my hair in bulks very very very badly b4 pregnancy and I mean it was 2 handfuls all the time I thought I was dieing lol. They checked me 3m later (I was 3m pregnant then) and boosted it up to 50 and I have done great every since. It's very safe for baby no issues at all it's more dangerous not taking the thyroid treatment cause it can cause a miscarriage/stillbirth Levothyroxine is safe while pregnant
that's amazing! So I wonder if a hyperactive thyroid is just as harmful? I just got blood drawn yesterday and the results appeared to be high. I'll call my doctor on monday but now I can't stop thinking about what it means
Yes me🙋♀️ it started to get enlarged close to the end of my first trimester. All my bloodwork levels were fine, so my midwife wasn't worried. It didn't get much bigger until I was six weeks postpartum and then it just got HUGE! I had an ultrasound done and there was a cyst on my thyroid. The surgical oncologist said it was most likely caused by all the pregnancy hormones.
@miss_understood having over active thyroid is more serious then low but as long as you take the medication you'll be fine no worries and yes speak with your doctor.
It didn't for me. She kept checking to make sure it didn't change shape or size throughout my pregnancy...she said it's pretty common with pregnancy. Try not to worry about it; just talk to your doctor and they will be able to tell you the best options😊

And how did the pregnancy go? Were there any complications along the way?
