Alright I need an outside opinion on this. My brother, his wife and my 2.5 yr old niece have always lived with my parents. They have a graco convertible car seat which stays in my brothers car so when she goes anywhere with my parents, my parents pull out this kid infant car seat from over 10 years ago. My brother and sister in law have posted pics with my niece improperly restrained and it makes me cringe. I’ve mentioned it to my brother. I’ve also explained to my mom that the car seat they’re choosing to use is more of a hazard than help. The other day I offered to buy another car seat since I’m planning on visiting and was unsure if I’d be flying and said when I’m not there, it could be used for my niece. My dad insisted he pay for it but told me to order it. Cool! Problem solved! The car seat got there today and my sister in law texts me asking for the name of the seat I ordered to “see if it works for her”. I’m enraged. Where was this concern when my niece had loose straps? Or her chest clip was at her belly button? Or when for the last 2.5 years it wasn’t an issue that she was using a 10 yr old, expired car seat?! I’m really hoping she doesn’t get an attitude with my parents over it. I’m just pissed because if it’s so important that the seat live up to your standards, you should’ve made sure she was in a safe seat to begin with.
