Do you think it's worth it to drive 40 minutes for a 2d gender ultrasound that lasts 10minutes?…
Do you think it's worth it to drive 40 minutes for a 2d gender ultrasound that lasts 10minutes? We're very eager for gender detection this time, even hubby wants to know asap. My Dr won't do it till 20weeks minimum. This is the closest place to us. Their 3d/4d rates jump it from 65 bucks for the 2D to 120 or higher for a 15 minute scan at most. Since baby is so little we aren't really interested in paying the extra money for 3d/4d right now. We may later on but for now were only looking to find gender. Do you think 65 for gender detection, 4 pics, a DVD recording, and free gender retest if needed is fair? We didn't do this with our son so I've got no idea what I should expect. Can someone explain the appointment process as well?

No, that’s not worth it at all I’d just wait till you’re 20 weeks.

I can't really explain the process to you but when I was pregnant with my 2nd, I kept my same OB from my first. I had moved since I had my first and am now an hour and 15min away from my OB but I still went out there for every appointment and every ultrasound so 40 min is nothing if you get to see baby but, you're not going to get a very accurate gender right now. It is best to wait till 20 weeks or have the early blood test done

I drove about the same maybe a little further and paid $70 to find out the gender during my last pregnancy. I received the same amount of pics and DVD recording.

How many weeks were you and was it accurate?

@rariszoo. I was a day shy of 15 weeks and yes it was.

We drove an hour and paid 100 bucks for our early gender scan for two of our three kids 🤷🏽♀️ we made a day out of it and went shopping and ate lunch. And at 15 weeks you can clearly see genital parts on ultrasound.

I have to drive 30 minutes to do anything anyway, so an extra 10 minutes would be nothing 🤷🏻♀️

My OB is right down the road not even 10minutes so I wasn't sure if 40 min drive was worth 10 minutes of ultrasound time.

My ob did an u/s at 17 weeks and found out we’re clearly having a boy lol he was not shy, it’s really up to you if you have the extra $ to pay and if it’s something you really cannot wait to find out, I know I was super anxious waiting and soooo happy when I had my u/s but again I got lucky and my ob wanted an u/s done anyway since we had moved and she was my new ob so if you have the money etc I say go for it but if it’s gonna strap you I’d wait the couple extra weeks 🤷🏻♀️ good luck either way!
