Anyone have any luck with getting a membrane sweep done? I am going to ask for one next week at my 38 week appointment (that's the first week they'll start to do it) also, hoping it may slowly work before getting induced the following week due to gestational diabetes. Thanks!

I'm not hurt at all I'm just concerned for you and anyone you may know and for any future babies... yeah a lot of things have risks but not everything has such a high risk as that and that's the last thing I'm saying.

So far I've had two with no luck, but it's different for everyone! For me it was very uncomfortable but worth it to try, just keep in mind it's not pleasant

Yeah, have read it's super uncomfortable. I think at this rate no matter what I try, I will be induced. He's just to comfy :)

I had GD as well and my doctor did it 3 days before I was to be induced. When I went in to get induced I was already in labor!!! So it did work for me 😊 also on a side note... PLEASE don’t drink castor oil!!

Were you on medication for your GD? Also, were you 39 weeks? They are saying that's their protocol pretty much since there are risks possibly going long after 39 weeks. And I'm terrified to try castor oil so I won't be taking that lol 😊

I was not l, thankfully it was controlled by diet. I had it done a few days before 39 weeks since I was showing signs of preeclampsia.

Are you dilated at all? You have to be at least at 1. I had one done at 39+3, I was 2cm dilated. Started having timetable contractions at 10pm (sweep was at 10am that day) admitted to the hospital at 3:30am, had baby girl at 9:14am, no pitocin needed 😁 BUT having a sweep is REALLY uncomfortable and the following hour is also terrible. Basically a very irritated uterus but worth it since it worked for me.

Yes dilated 2cm and 70% effaced. I'm really hoping it works!

I had 2 sweeps done, the first at 38 weeks and the 2nd at 39 weeks. after my 2nd sweep I went into labor 3 days later. Oh and please don't ever ever use castor oil like the first person who commented said they did... She's stupid and she's lucky her baby didn't die because death of a child is very common from that.

I had it a stretch and sweep done at 38 weeks. My doctor specifically asked me if I’m ready to have the baby. I said yes so he did it. He told me to walk around for an hour and then head to the hospital. He was right. I was in labor and at the hospital within the hour.

I had it done and went into labor the next day. I was 39 weeks when I delivered.
