Any mommas have some tips or tricks to help wean off of breastfeeding?
@meganph lol... it seems to get easier though. I'm used to not getting much sleep. My SIL also told me that her first started sleeping through the night at 8 months (I thought that was super late!) and her second at 6 weeks... and here we are at 9 months lol... at this point I'm sure it's just comfort feeding, but when I try to give him the binky instead, he doesn't want it. As of recent my son likes to sleep on his belly (just a few days now) and I notice that when he wakes, he falls asleep easier maybe because it's more energy consuming to be on his belly complaining than on his back? 🤷♀️
@erikak, mine every once in awhile will sleep on his belly and I have the opposite! If he wakes up at night he gets right up and pulls himself up to a standing position when he’s on his belly. Lol
@meganph ooooh my little guy doesn't stand yet and we co-sleep, so he can't pull himself up anywhere 😋 just when you think you have it figured out, baby throws in a new game changer lol
@meganph my theory about this is that once they start drinking milk, maybe we can give then a warm cup of milk before bed? 🤔 my LO mostly feeds at night still, so that's going to be hard to change. I hear lots of stories of babies just weaning off the breast after a year by themselves though, so hopefully it will just happen by itself.
@erikak, that’s what I am hoping too! And maybe whole milk will fill their belly’s a little more and they will sleep! My son is still waking up multiple times at night to nurse. But during the day he can go so much longer without nursing.
@meganph same here! I think the dr said to continue feeding at night if the baby wants to but I'm not sure if I got that right. Our 9 month check up appointment is coming up, so I will ask again. I did read that sleep is developmental though, so I don't mind waiting for baby to be ready.
And I also find that my son sleeps way better when I put him to bed earlier. He wakes at 6 am, and if I put him down around 8 at night, he will wake every 2 hours. If I get him to go down at 6, he will wake twice at night.
