Has anyone or their child ever dealt with precocious puberty? My five year old has been dealing with this, and I have never missed her appointments. Today her CT scan came through and Hubs didn't wake me. They're saying her results are good but they're rushing her back to the main Endocrinologist three months sooner than scheduled so now I'm worried something did show up but they're going to let her specialist handle it. Just wanted to ask a few questions.
Sorry when the brood is up at the same time, it's hard to check-in. Her hair is very advanced (this isn't new though) and her chest, I've noticed devolpment not a huge difference from our last check in but definitely noticeable. She's had to wear deodorant since she was four, but nothing hugely different than before.
It’s puberty that begins too soon (before 8 in girls and 9 in boys) It’s a condition where the pituitary gland is triggered to release hormones too soon in children.
Is it dangerous or just puts them at risk for being overly developed too soon?
@divinely_favored, It’s generally more common in females, but the physiological and psychological effects definitely vary by the severity of each individual case.
Glad your docs are keeping a close eye OP ❤️
@divinely_favored it can cause some devolpment issues(stunted growth for one) and behavorial issues. There's a couple of studies I believe linked to an increase chance of breast cancer later in life. So far at least personally Shy is extremely tall for her age, has breast and pubic devolpment and behavorial issues mainly dealing with advanced emotions she is underprepaired to handle.
Have you noticed any of the signs advancing? Increased body hair? Body/armpit odor?
