We switched once our son turned 1. He seemed to be getting too big for the infant one. You can switch anytime before they reach the max height or max weight limit of the infant seat.

@aidenandaustins.mom oh I think they are all different. I just switched my daughter cause she reached the weight limit of her infant seat. Hers went weight limit was 24lbs and length limit 28inches.
