Right, I need some help, I am really struggling now I work really long days (10 hours) I am 19 weeks, 3 days pregnant and I work as a care worker. My aches and pains have been so bad recently my back keeps going in to spasms and locking. I have just messaged my midwife waiting on a reply, I have been doing back exercises, I am constantly active and taking paracetamols. I have also just got over a chest infection.
My question is, at work I am really starting to struggle now - I am so exhausted all the time and physically drained as the work is so demanding. I have already had one risk assessment near 12 weeks but now I am fighting really hard to continue with all the same tasks, I think it is getting too much. I spoke to some girls at work and they keep saying you have to keep going. But they don't know what I am going through. Should I ask for another risk assessment. I'm not one to moan, and have always put others first, now I know that I need to change my ways because it is impacting on my health and could potentially the babies. HELP!!!
Hi I’m a shift leader in a care home for people with dementia you need to go back to your manager and ask for another risk acessment explain to them about your back and ask for light duties. Can I ask where you work is it a care home or domiciliary. X
Yeah I am a shift leader in a care home for people with learning disabilities but at the moment we have no manager so having to wait to see someone higher 😅
@jodieedd22-5-19, oh no really it’s so hard when you lead shifts because it’s so difficult to cover and I always feel to bad to have time off x
If you think your symptoms have got worse always best to ask for another risk assessment. X

are any mommies to be high-risk? I am because of my kidney disease. With my first child I didn't have high risk because I didn't have my disease but now I'm always worried.

thoughts on having a glass of red wine?
I know some moms are comfortable with having a glass during pregnancy I just never did because I am super paranoid about everything. yesterday my aunt and grandma were drinking it and the struggle was real!!!! my aunt is an L&D nurse and told me this late in pregnancy promise you will be fine. I didn't do it but now can't keep my mind off of it!!! really tempted to send SO to go get me a bottle...
Yes ask for another risk assessment. They should be done regularly anyway. I also have quite a physical job and had long hours at the time when I was pregnant. I can't remember how frequently but I had a bunch done through my pregnancy. Things like what jobs you do can be altered. Have shorter but more frequent breaks so you can rest etc. All that can be bought up and they have to make changes where possible.
