Ok, so I kind of have an issue. So both of my previous babies were breastfed. The 1st supplamented because I was taking birth control and it was killing my supply (she was losing weight. Not gaining.) The 2nd was exclusively breastfed. Never took a bottle and had ONLY breastmilk for 7 months before we ever introduced baby food. Well this baby I 110% intend to do with as I did my 2nd. However, we have guardianship of my husbands 2 teenage brothers.. how do I manage to successfully breastfeed a baby and watch two toddlers all while not making them "uncomfortable" in my home? I literally cant run to my bedroom every feeding. We all know how newborns feed.. constantly. I cant be in a room shut in with a 4 and a 2 year old running unattended in the rest of the house. I already know it's going to be a problem. So what am I to do? I refuse to give up breastfeeding my last baby just because they are here.

Honestly if it were me, theyre teenagers. If they dont like it they can leave the room. But if its you who is uncomfortable try this.
Place the bf pillow on your lap and have a receiving blanket near by. Place baby close to boob then place the blanket behind them/on their shoulder/pillow. It creates a barrier and your baby wont be covered and to warm. But like i said if all you're worried about is the teens being uncomfortable, dont. Its a learning experience for them as well. You can teach them to respect women who are feeding in public 😁 good luck mama!

I'm more worried about how they'll act about it and how their bio dad will act once he finds out I'm breastfeeding. Hes very aggressive and eventhough he has no rights to them he thinks he has to put in his two sense in. I've thought about telling them to just go to their room if they arent okay with it but at the same time I wasnt too sure if that was going over board or not. So thank you!! They do have their own room with their own TV and game system ect so they wouldnt be just sitting there starring at the walls or anything.

@fourkidsandababy eh i wouldnt worry much most teenagers dont like leaving their rooms lol at least in our house we didnt. 🤣 theyll be occupied by friends, school, homework, ect. As for the bio dad, i wouldn't worry about it. Whats he gonna do with no rights other then try and call? Just block the numbers🤷♀️

you're right!!

I ebf with a teen, a toddler and my gramps living with us. I used the two shirt method. Like the other commenter said, they'll learn to respect a breastfeeding mama

That's true! Thank you.

This is an American thing to sexualize the breast rather than the domain of infants and a source of food. Developing countries have both men and women walking around naked and no one feels awkward because everyone has those body parts. You should break that chain of not feeling “comfortable” to end the taboo of breastfeeding. Whip ya boobs out and feed 🤷🏻♀️

It's also a southern thing for people to think its "not modest" which absolutely kills me. I'll breastfeed in public and what not so breastfeeding deff doesnt bother me in the least. Hopefully breastfeeding our son will help normalize it at least for them. Which would be a start.

@fourkidsandababy I went to a zoo and a mother had her whole boob out nursing her lo. I was so jealous of her confidence!

@mhbb3, heck I would be too!

I would try a nursing cover or get a lot of nursing tops. I have what looks like a light weight apron that I use to nurse in public. At home or in my family's house I just pull up my shirt and then just nurse her with my nursing tops. That way my daughter can nurse easily but my under shirt keeps my belly covered.

I'm deff not open to covering with a cover in my own home. That just too far in my opinion. The two shirt thing is what I did with my other two at home and in public.

Tell them you're feeding the baby and if they dont like it they can go outside or to another room.

They will adjust at first it might be uncomfortable but they will manage. It’s your house and you need to feed your baby. If you let them know you have to goto the other room breast feed they might take it like everyone should have to be in private to breast feed and not think it’s normal

That's very true. Never thought of it that way.
