So my husband and i decided we were going to speak with my sister about payment for baby sitting her child 5 days a week. Well, my sister is pissed
Firstly, is it nice to do things for your family free of charge? Sure. But it gets to a point where it becomes taking advantage. She should pay you for your time if you are doing it for her in a regular basis. Her child needs to eat so she should insure she is covering the cost of food however, that’s not even the biggest issue because I would give ANY starving child any food that I had if their parents weren’t covering it. It’s the principle of the matter, your sister should be more grateful and considerate that you are willing to watch her child. You have the right to tell her that you no longer want to watch her child. Period.
Thank you. I thought i was being nice watching her here and there then became everyday. I feel like she is going to try ti keeo her away from us now. And i think she knows that
@momma2twinies, that’s unfortunate that she would act that way but your hands are tied. At the end of the day you love your family but you can’t put yourself in that position. One day she will realize she was wrong.
I don’t understand the “she would pay me this and that’s it.” She’s not in charge. She doesn’t get to negotiate pricing or tell you what is going to go down. Stop being a doormat and put your foot down. Set a price and be firm. If she doesn’t like it, she can pay a shit ton more for an actual day care.
I wish someone out there would watch mine for nothing but watching someone's child is a job and you should get paid. My family ask for money watching mine before when it was regular basis. Better then paying a day care.
$100 I think is definitely fair we were paying $185 a week when kaysen was in daycare and we still had to provide everything on top of that minus the one meal but snacks and what not we had to provide and diapers formula and whatever else we wanted
What? That’s crazy!! You’re watching her child full time! U def need to get paid for that. I used to watch my twin niece and nephew once a week but I never asked for payment because it was only one day a week. If u was watching them more then that I’d prob ask for something. My sil offered to pay me but I wouldn’t take it but again it was only once a week!! I’m sorry she’s mad but she’s being totally unreasonable about it. She’s be paying hundreds a week for daycare for those hours so she shouldn’t have a problem paying a little bit to u, her family!!!!! This makes me irritated for u. I’m sure you’re feeding the child prob 2-3 meals a day plus snacks and drinks!! That’s a lot of money right there in just good bit to mention your time!! If she doesn’t want to pay I’d tell her to find another sitter. That’s really unfair to u and your family!!
My sister just messaged me and told me she used to pay her other sitter 20 a day and thats with the sitter providing everything except diapers. All i asked was 75 a week plus my 45$ phone a month which is less than her other sitter. She told me she would only provide diapers. No snacks or drinks. And she said i wouldnt be watching her as much but thats fine. I still think she should buy food
@momma2twinies, i agree she should be at least considerate enough to provide drinks, snacks and food for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you’re feeding her child all those meals. The amount you’re asking for prob isn’t even going to cover food for the week. And again u should be compensated for your time!! You’re being very generous with your offer
@ss3mom thats what my husnand told me too. She acrs like she doesnt make enough but i know she does
Wow! I wish I had family to watch my daughter so I could go back to work and wouldn’t have to put her in daycare... she should be really grateful!!! 🙄
Its only right.. Family or not!
I don’t understand why people don’t in this world doesn’t get nothing in this world free . I get that you are his or her auntie but that’s still your time . You still have to feed them . She can’t go to no daycare and it’s free . 5 days is your whole week so u need to be getting paid PERIODTTT OR TELL HER TO MAKE NEW ARRANGEMENTS . If you wasn’t doing it she would be paying an complete strangers
My grandma, watches my daughter and I pay her. As far as I’m concerned your feeding another humans child, putting a roof over their head for FREE?!. If she doesn’t like it, well she isn’t gonna find anyone else especially daycares that won’t charge her more than you would.
My husband said charge her 100 a week and thats with us watching her 5 days a week from 7:30-6:15
@momma2twinies, my grandma watches my daughter for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. And I pay her 175 every week, that sounds fair to me.
Well you have kids of your own so I think you have a right to charge her, even if it's your sister, your taking care of her kid 5 days a week, I think you deserve to get paid for that
I guess us asking for money 😩 my husband told her we need her to pay the same or maybe less than what she used to pay her other bavy sitter and now when she comes over she doesnt acknowledge that we ever asked avout it and slams my doors waking my husband abd kids up
@momma2twinies that's crazy my sister in law watches my girl I have no problem paying her I pay like 4$ a hour. And I'd she don't watch her a full week I just throw some money at her. No one is going to watch anyone kids for nothing all the time I'd see if it was once in a while but if if ur sister had to pay a random person she be paying a ton more and in a randoms home she should be grateful and ur better then I am bcuz if my sister did that yo me the next day my sis would be busy and she could find someone else doe the day ops lol good luck momms
So I just found out that my husband is sleeping with my sister and they are making fun of me.

My sister is such a dork!

With my sister-in-laws!
Has anyone tried evening primrose oil to start soften they cervix ? My sister did it and she had her baby this morning at 39 weeks
Let her be pissed. She has no right to expect you to care for her child full time for free! She’d be paying a lot more than you’re asking if someone else was babysitting.
My daughter is at a sitter. We were paying $20/day until our sitter moved. We provided everything (formula, diapers, a booster seat for meals, pack n play, cup for water, snacks, and food once she started eating solids). We pay our new sitter $25/day and we only provide diapers/pull ups.
As a parent, it is your responsibility to provide for your child(ren). The way I see it, I need to make sure whoever is watching my kid has what they need to do so.
