Type 1 diabetics!!
So i just found out i'll be induced early because of my diabetes. I was just wondering if labor was different for you with your blood sugars. Also did your children have any problems with their blood sugar at and after birth. Im so nervous. I want her to be healthy.
I have type 1. I had HUGE babies so 2 c sections lol. I had my first at 38 weeks exactly because I had pr eclampsia. The second one was a scheduled c section at 37 weeks 4 days. Both kids had low blood sugars when thy were born but that’s it. My second was in the NICU but mainly because he had fluid in his lungs.
I know it's secondhand, but my sister has type 1. Her son did have difficulty regulating his sugars at first, and needed to be in, whatever the step below NICU is, for a few days. (He was also born blue and my sister needed a blood transfusion, but that isn't necessarily diabetes related, as she had a c-section because she wasn't dilating. And apparently she was born blue, too.) She was going to be induced early but her water wound up breaking a few days before the date. Her son will be two in a few weeks and aside from weight gain issues in the beginning, he's doing great. She's got everything back on track and under control, too.
I had to be induced at 37 weeks because of GD and IUGR. Henry had no problems with blood sugar, he was just extra tiny because of the IUGR. Labor wasn't much different they just ty to speed things up so you don't get too low on sugars. And you get popsicles!
This is so frustrating! I don't understand gestational diabetes. My blood sugar is so messed up I don't even know what to do! I can't take it! Between him and this and EVERYTHING in between! Fuck all this! I'm just so... so! Ugh!!!!
Ok so my son just got his first job. He’s also type 1 diabetic. Well last night while working his sensor starts going off his blood sugar dropped to 52. They told him he could deal with it after he got his orders done, which in a way I understand that but at the same time if it drops low enough he can pass out and that won’t be good for anyone!! They wouldn’t even let him just grab some glucose tabs out of his bag. I’m so torn here because I don’t know what’s appropriate and what’s not.
Blood sugar levels at 14....
So..... I just found out that I have diabetes. I have an appointment with the specialist tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm wondering if this is gestational or if I could have been diabetic before?? Does the level give any insight to that or am I just going to have to find out after pregnancy if my levels are still high?
So my 2 year old has been really thirsty lately and since my mom is a diabetic and so is my hubby I decided to check her blood sugar. It was 163. Is that normal for toddlers?!?! I’ve never taken a toddlers blood sugar before so I’m curious.
I had GD with my son. Delivered him via C-section at 39 weeks. He was big, 10.3lbs at birth. Mine and his sugars were fine after birth and he was healthy and had no problems.
