My son wasn't saying much around 18 months and they referred me to Babynet where they further evaluated... Then they referred him to the state to be evaluated where he was diagnosed. By time he was 3 and a half he was diagnosed and began receiving speech and had an early interventionist. He is now 6 and he is in regular ed.

How old is your son? If he’s under 3, you can ask your doctor for a referral for early intervention and they will do a free evaluation. Then if you qualify for services, it’s an income based payment. If he’s over 3, there’s many therapy places you can take your son for the eval. Those are usually free as well, but price of services will vary depending on insurance and the places.

What areas/skills are you concerned about?

I’m not sure exactly but at my daughters 2 yr appt they asked questions that were screening for autism. I believe someone here had her daughter diagnosed at almost 3 yrs old. They had a specialist do some tests with her at home. Hopefully she will see this post to be able to help!
