Went to the pediatrician today and she said baby should be able to say 5-10 words. I was surprised. I didn't know they were supposed to be talking this early. He says the basics like mama, dog, and ball. He understands everything we say and knows what objects are but he doesn't really speak yet and we didn't think he had to. When did your little start talking officially?

I’m always wondering what the proper amount of words should be. I know Damien is a few months younger, but it still worries me that he will only say certain words when he wants to. He says mom, dada, ball, go, and yesterday he started saying blue, but most of the time he just points. 🤦🏻♀️

my two year old still doesn’t speak much, but my three year old spoke in full sentences starting at 12 months, every baby is different!

My girl had about ten words down by her birthday and over 30 at 18 months. Idk if that’s considered officially talking though since she doesn’t really put sentences together. She just knows certain phrases we use a lot. She only speaks Spanish by the way. I figure she’ll pick up English later on

Mine understands when we talk to her. She can say about 50+ words and knows what they are. She doesnt use her words all the time, only when she feels like it. She also points and or grabs our finger shows us if she wants or needs something. Sometimes she will say it. We are not so worried because it is not like she isn’t trying.

By 1.5 if they aren’t saying 5-10 words I highly suggest speech therapy. Or start teaching them sign. I waited too long cuz I thought babies developed at their own pace. I wish I started sooner. We are 4 months in. And are at 100 words! He barely had 20 words when we started. And he knows 41 signs

I don’t remember exactly with mine but my boys started talking way before my daughter did. I was slightly worried but she caught up by age 2.
