Mommies what does thrush looks like ? My baby has a white coating on her tongue and doctor asked yesterday is it always like that and I said for the most part but she’s is always feeding . She told me to watch it we do have to go back Friday for weight so I’ll bring it up to her . But what does it look like or how white does it have to be ? It’s white but it’s not like completely covered or bumpy or anything if that’s what it looks like ? Should I be checking her tongue in between feeds to see if it’s still white ??

Yep! To be honest I didn't know I was supposed to discard it lol oops
I didn't throw anything away I have it to my baby even with thrush and she never got it again
@courtneeb.cb, yes that’s what she said !! I just really hope it’s not because I stored over 100 oz in just 5 days and I would cry my eyes out if I had to get rid of it or use it for other purposes
@lovelyjane, @courtneeb.cb, I called the doctor she said not to worry as of yet and that she’ll check her on Friday when she goes in for a weight check . But she said milk can stain a newborns tongue specially with her eating every 1/2 hrs because babies don’t have much saliva at 2 weeks old . As far as my breast pain and cracked nipples she said it’s normal because I’m nursing every 1/2 hrs plus pumping for 15 mins on each side every 3hrs which is a lot of tension and friction on boob . She said that they don’t even recommended nursing and pumping as often as I am thus early for those reasons . So she said to calm down and she’ll deff check her Friday and if she does have it they’ll treat us both
It's an easy fix if it is thrush hopefully it's not and just a milk tongue
@courtneeb.cb, was you breast feeding ? Did it stay gone once treated
At the time I was pumping and Bottlefeeding her so I had to boil everything if you're breastfeeding I've heard you have to be treated also because it can be on your nipples
My baby girl had it and her tongue had a thick white coating on it that wouldn't wipe off she also had a red rash on her bottom that's how my Ped diagnosed her
@lovelyjane, will I have to throw out all my pumped and frozen milk if I do have it ?? I have so much stored already I would hate to toss it all
Yes you would have to if you don’t know when you got it. But you can google how to make soap out of your breast milk which is what I did instead of tossing it all out
It could just be from the milk either way just wipe her mouth out with a warm white wash cloth after every feeding it'll clear up in no time that worked for my babies
@lovelyjane, I do get sharp pain in my boobs and my nipples are sensitive at times but it’s not an all day thing and I thought because she’s feeding every hr and I’m pumping every 3 !! They only. Feel like that when I need to pump cause they’re full . I will use a cloth and see if it comes off thanks !!
Shouldnt get a sharp pain in your boobs. I really hope you don’t have it because it is literally hell to get rid off. The only thing that worked was gentile violet and that shit gets everywhere and stains everything
Get a wet wash cloth and try to wipe her tongue if it comes off easily it’s just milk if it doesn’t come off it’s thrust also if you have pain in your breast like a sharp pain and irritated nipples with no relief it’s thrust

I’ve heard if you try to wipe the white off the tongue and it doesn’t go away.

What does this look like?? I’ve always thought it was eczema but it’s just getting worse. Even with the prescription cream the doctor gave him!

I will deff be asking the doctor cause I don’t remember a time when her tongue wasn’t white even in the hospital it was white I don’t know if they didn’t see it or just didn’t think anything of it since In the hospital she was eating every hr .
