Does anyone know WHY we get Braxton Hicks contractions? I know the uterus is practicing but why? This will be my third time giving birth. Why do we have to do this every time?

@mhbb3 that's what I had with my 1st. What I'm having with this one is actually painful like bad period cramps off and on. It's getting so old.

@fourkidsandababy Maybe it's the start of real labor then. You are quite a bit further than me. How long have they been painful?

@mhbb3 oh I have them off and on all day pretty much everyday. I have since about 34 weeks. My midwife just says drink water and rest. At 34 weeks I was almost 1 cm dilated. I'm hoping she checks tomorrow just to see because I'm curious.
